Roxy Rawson! Really fun and pleasingly off-beat music, and she’s a cool person to know

Roxy Rawson’s songs are  the perfect thing to banish the worlds woes. I think she does it purely with exuberance. There seems always something to find in her songs. A word missed that on finding, so gives the sense they are ever returning with a richness.

Roxy is really really great. A soul. Like a bright ray of light. She is as potent as Chocolate during the winter months!

She’s spent time in Paris studying piano and violin.  Her current album contains these elements, different harmonic colours (dramatic and subtle). Up front sounds, with vibrophones, marching drums, string quartet, savage bass lines, playful violin and ‘made up’ percussion.

She says this about her music:
“Nature and the abyss of space and me being in it. If I feel something strongly I feel sort of swept up and music comes out.”
“It was conceived when I was feeling a sense of complete elation as happens sometimes when I think about the larger questions of existence and get excited about the beauty, horror, mystery and magic of life. A sort of sonic impression of elation.”

One of my absolute favourites is  “Another silly song about a train, in the rain for Rob De Bank’s competition”, located at her blog, roxyrawson.com.
